The University of Padua does not finance or co-finance its interdepartmental research Centres, not even to a small extent. They must carry out their activities exclusively with external funding. A minimum of 10,000 euros is required every two years for the University to authorise the existence of a Centre.

To ensure its survival and to carry out its activities, CIRFIM has so far relied on applications to private foundations, donations from individuals, and crowdfunding campaigns.
